Description:The Production Machinist must be able to use a Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Machine, including lathes, mills, grinders, and capable to use other Automated Controlled Machines. The Machinist is responsible for setting up and programming (G and M coding and Cad Cam Programming) automated machinery to produce quality products. The Machinist is also responsible for maximizing the efficiencies of automated machinery and should proactively seek ways to improve processes on these machines.
Qualifications:Education: Completion of a 2 year post high school degree in machining technology or equivalent training.
Experience: Over 3 year’s manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
Skills:
· Must be able to understand Key words and phrases in English
· Programming jobs starting with G and M codes up to Cad Cam systems.
· Must be proficient in machine operations and techniques including; tool selection, speed and feed selection, depth of cut, work holding, and work set up, etc.
· Must be able to select appropriate drilling and cutting tools with their optimal speed and feed rates for machine operations
· Must be able to understand and use standard machining measuring tools. (Tape measures, squares, calipers, micrometers, Gage blocks, Angular Measurement devices, sign bars, Inside-height-and depth measuring devices, etc.)
· Must be able to read and follow detailed technical drawings
· Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide and convert fractions
· Must be able to troubleshoot and recognize problems with parts or equipment.
· Must be able to sharpen drill bits using drill sharpening equipment
· Ability to be trained and work with different types of machines.
